A Second Touch!

Mark 8:23-25 – Then Jesus placed his hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened. His sight was completely restored and he could see everything clearly.

Can you picture it, Jesus taking you by the hand out of the place, where you were ostracized, rejected, looked over and not fully accepted?  Did you ever need God to rescue you out of your darkest moment or maybe there are some things you just don’t see clearly. You said, Jesus I need a miracle right Now!

At the beginning of this narrative, it tells us that some people brought the blind man to Jesus begging for Him to touch and heal the blind man. It is always a blessing to have some people in your life who care enough about you to bring you to Jesus for healing. Many times people will give household remedies, or un-godly advice and sometimes based off of their own experiences. There are some people who knows who to bring you too when you are in trouble and you have exhausted all other resources. wp-1461605310932.jpg

Sometimes there are unseen aspects to healing. In this case, intimacy and time with Jesus is the essential ingredient. We read of Jesus leading the man out of the city holding his hand, picture it in your mind. Something happened, deeper than physical healing. Maybe he was being healed of a spirit of rejection, all his life people probably shunned him, and he was a beggar viewed as rejected and despised by God.  Let’s just reflect on the fact that Jesus had to lead him out of the city, because there are just some places that are not conducive for healing. For many, reason such as: unbelief or environments are hostile to healing and in some instances God’s ability to bless was being limited because of man’s ability to receive.  Has Jesus ever led you out of some place, comfort zone, city, church, job, or even a relationship that just wasn’t conducive for your healing, just so he can bless you? If not maybe you didn’t sit long enough to finish the work on you. Maybe you just like this blind man and need a second touch.

I realize there are times when God is trying to get our attention He may call your name more than once, just asks Samuel or maybe He will ask you three of the same questions, like he did Peter…. Do you love me more than these? Peter, then feed my sheep! ( John 21:15-17). Blindness to the understanding and thought life and we have to renew our minds daily so that we can change our worldly perspectives to a heavenly one. The eyes are useless when the mind is blind! wp-1461605337924.jpg

If you look closely, Jesus spit on the man’s eyes the first time and asked him can you see anything now? The man’s eyes were not fully opened, could be that he was straining to receive his deliverance, because maybe he is just many of us struggle from the negative self –talk we can’t see ourselves healed. Your healing can be held up, Proverb 6:2-3  encourages us to save ourselves from the entrapment you got caught up in by your own agreement of what you said out of your mouth.  Jesus had imparted divine life into this man, as He desires to do for us. Thank God for a second touch! Some healing are instant but in this story the healing was done in stages. Sometimes, God will heal us in stages so he can demonstrate spiritual truths in our lives. Often time, not always spiritual truth is not perceived the first time. The first touch was when he saw people like walking trees.

The 25th verse says his sight was restored…. Hold Up any time you have something restored, that indicated that you had something before. In this case this man had sight before, but earlier in his life he couldn’t see things as clear. I sense the Lord saying, don’t be in a rush with me, “wait I am not done with you.” I gave you a glimpse of your healing, your deliverance, your vision but I need you to spend more time with me so I can touch your eyes a second time, so that you may see clearer than ever before. Daily seek God until you expire for clear directions, instructions for strategies to fulfill his assignments He has entrusted you with to demonstrate his power and His Will on earth.

My Father Is A Workaholic!

John 5:16- 17, So the Jewish leader began harassing, Jesus for breaking the Sabbath rules. 17) But Jesus replied, “My Father is always working, and so am I”

Jesus heals a man on the Sabbath at the Pool of Bethseda. Jesus asked the man a very important question who had been lying by the pool of Bethseda for thirty-eight years: Do You want to be made whole? In other words, do you care enough about your problem to do something about it- even if it requires on your part some action, effort, sacrifice, or even suffering? The first step in overcoming your problem whether it is emotional, physical or spiritual is to admit that you are in need and desire change.  Just as the man and many of us who are in need answered the Lord with self-pity.  Jesus sees you in need of help and sends a willing person to help do you play the victim role, and say there is no hope for me or nobody love me? Let me keep it real with you if you keep that attitude it is unlikely to experience healing.  In his glory, Jesus is gracious and knows your deepest desires, he cuts through your pity party and challenges you to “Get Up”, you don’t have time to wait for people to pity you “Get up” take your problem and move, surrender it to me and give me access to the un-surrender area in your life and let me heal you. Jesus always drops some heavy knowledge on us when he says, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself, and He does only what he sees the Father doing, Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.

Every waking moment of life the Father and His son is working, no vacations, no rest, Justwpid-e3961a1c046aa56d8c46b807aedc2b13.jpg waiting for access to those areas you need healing in. Do not neglect Jesus gracious gift to heal you. The man was not only healed physically, but his sins were forgiven and healed spiritually. This is what Jesus means to be “Whole” he leave nothing undone if you let him in. If you desire a touch from the Lord, then I encourage you to ask yourself if you are ready to experience change and willing to do something about your situation. You will experience healing when you let God know you are obedient to His will and eager to do whatever it takes for you to be whole. He will send Jesus in the form of a person, a verse from His Word, or a new thought in your mind. Don’t Wait! Do what God tells you to do, He made you, and He knows how to fix precisely what is broken within You!

My brother and sister I encourage you to walk firmly away as did the man with his mat under his arm and testifying “Jesus Healed Me.” When God power brings about positive change in your life, don’t let doubters convince you these changes are only coincidence or a twist of fate.  Our Father in Heaven and His Son Jesus is always working to prove doubters that we serve a living God that still able to heal and deliver us….Walk in your Healing!

Faith that Amaze Jesus!

Matthew 8:13- Then Jesus said to the Roman officer, “Go back home. Because you believed, it has happened.” And the young servant was healed that same hour.

There is an ole family song called “I believe” the words to speak our faith. It says… I Believe, I Believe, I believe in the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost all makes one. I can’t touch Him, and His face I can’t see, but I Believe!

Today, so many people are putting their efforts into learning the latest cults and new age doctrines of these false religions. But there is only one true and living God who has proven himself over and over again. That is Jesus the Christ! The Centurion was a military officer in the Roman army, who had control over a hundred soldiers and they were all hated by the Jews for their oppressive, controlling and ridiculing behavior towards them. wp-1460726429621.jpg

Amazingly, this Roman officer could have let many obstacles stand between him and Jesus. Such as pride, doubt, money, language, distance, time, self-sufficiency, power, race etc. But he didn’t. Nothing was standing in his way of approaching Jesus and requesting Jesus to heal his young soldier, who was paralyzed and in pain.

What is keeping you from Christ?

Jesus was amazed by a gentile, this Roman soldier’s faith, so much so even Jesus recognizes that the Centurion soldier has put to shame the pompous piety of many Jewish religious leaders. Jesus says that many of the religious Jews who should be in the kingdom would be excluded because of their lack of faith.

It is God’s desire to heal! God is willing to heal you!

We must be careful not to become so set in our religious habits that we expect God to work only in specified ways. Don’t limit God by your mind-set wp-1460726412014.jpgand lack of faith. Have the faith that will amaze Jesus! We ought to engage ministry with the expectation and faith that God saves, heals and sets people free today!

The Brokenhearted !

Psalm 34:18– The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

The troubles of life do not discriminate and for that reason we can’t escape them when they invade our lives. Isn’t funny how trouble always comes knocking at your door at the most inopportune time. I mean I was just happy about getting over the last trouble and here you come again. I know I am not by myself! Can I get an Amen Somebody? 51a15a5bcf285a06f94116e3ce1bac6a.jpg

The pain we endure, the grief and loss we suffer, the failure we have to live through, the daily frustrations of everyday life is constantly wearing us down. God promises us hope and he says He will be close to the brokenhearted. I know when I am feeling broken inside, I feel this overwhelming sense of abandonment and isolation, BUT God said he will be with us. There is nothing like being in the presence of God when you are in pain. In His presence there is a source of power that is unexplainable. I know, I know what you are saying, Rev. Sakinah you don’t know what I am going through and God ain’t thinking about me, and if He is thinking about me… what is taking Him soooo long to deliver me out of this mess? Well, can I ask how did it take you to get in your mess? When trouble strikes, don’t take matters into your own hands and then get frustrated with God when things don’t go according to your plan. Instead, admit that you need God and thank Him for being by your side!

Apply Truth to My Innerparts

Psalm 51:6 –Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place

If “Truth” be told we all desire healing in our hearts, it is in the abundance of our hearts that the mouth speaks. The Hebrew translation for inner parts is parallel to the Heart.  King David mourns over his sinful acts of killing Bathsheba’s husband Urriah and more over, it cost him the life of his son. David acknowledges his sin should not be excused. He knew from the womb his(inner parts) what was the right behavior to do instead he failed to obey what is lawful with God. David not only seeking forgiveness but he was seeking divine instructions.  Can I ask you today, to use your sanctified minds and just consider David’s request for the Truth was a divine expectation of instruction to be internalized so that he may be taught the wisdom of God. the gospel

The sincerity and true self-discernment which God requires can only come of spiritual insight. Our spiritual discernment which is synonymous with the fear of Jehovah, in addition is the practical principle of right conduct. Where should backsliding children return, but to the Lord their God, who alone can heal them? Truth is necessary for the real healing to flow. David divinely teaches an account of the workings of his heart toward God. Those that truly repent of their sins, will not be ashamed to own their repentance. He is encouraged, in his repentance, to hope that God would graciously accept him. Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; to this God looks, in a returning sinner. God wants to place truth over your wounds. Where there is truth, God will give wisdom.

One Touch !

Jesus touches nurse

Matthew 8: 14) When Jesus arrived at Peter’s house, Peter’s, mother –in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. 15) But when Jesus touched her hand, the fever left. Then she got up and prepared a meal for him.

Our Lord Jesus used many different “methods” in ministering to the sick. Jesus was not concerned with how the last person got healed, because he is not consumed with methodology. He was simply discerning what His Father in heaven was doing. It is our hearts desire to be in the Will of God at all times.  Many Christians seem to be preoccupied with searching of an anointed “method” or “formula” for healing the sick. There is no such thing, God alone heals and no one can force his hand.  I am reminded of a song by Bishop Paul S Morton and the words to this song is like a simple prayer request, Lord whatever you doing in this season Please! Don’t do it without me.” What a simple request and a moment of realization that we can’t do anything without God. We must solely depend on the Holy Spirit!

Peter’s mother in-law gives us a beautiful example to follow, she had a need and Jesus fulfilled her need with a simple Touch! Oh what joy it is to be touched by the Lord! The fever left her and she got immediately and began to show her gratitude by preparing him a meal.

Has God ever helped you through a dangerous or difficult situation? If you answered Yes, How can we express our gratitude to Him?

In Closing, God has promised us all the rewards of his Kingdom, we should look for ways to serve him and his followers.

Keep the Enemy From Your Door

time in a bottle In the busyness of life, it seems as though we are running out of time. We are wearing many hats, wife, husband, friend, family, church and list goes on and on. I realized that we need a little bit more balance in our lives. We are too busy to discern, pray, pay attention to our lives falling apart right before our eyes and it is only until we hit rock bottom. We ask that famous question ” How did I get here?” and moreover, how do I get out of it Now! Too often we go through life without thinking about what we’re are doing and what does it all means. Time does not stand still for no one and for every item not achieved on your to do and bucket list. It appears everyday we are running out of time. Life is being lived, days, weeks, months and years are passing us by and yet we are not living life, life is living us.  Although we may not give up on life, we still express our greatest need is to have more time. If it would be left up to us we would like to control time, so we can savior our moments as we create memories.  It’s like requesting God to put time in a bottle on our behalf.  What we need today is Balance!

1 peter scripturesSatan is seeking to devour us and he looking for someone who gives him an opening to do so. One of the most important ways he can destroy us is through an imbalanced life. An unbalanced life over a long period of time we send a longstanding invitation to Satan to walk through the door of our life to bring all kinds of problems, chaos, diseases and sicknesses. In 1peter 5:8 Be well balanced… for that enemy of yours the devil, roams around like a lion roaring, seeking someone to seize upon and devour.  We can’t allow the enemy to  move in to our lives and make himself at home  by placing his ugly furniture of lies and doubt in the four corners of our minds.

God desires that our minds be in perfect peace. I realize that a sense of peace is not predicated by our circumstances but by our state of mind. The more you focus on God, His sovereignty and His love for you, everything that is going on around you matters less and less.  Find balance in all you do, keep you mind fixed on Christ , regardless of what is happening all around you and keep the enemy away from your door….Rev. Cultivating a Devotional Life

Cultivating a Devotional Life.

Everything Really?

Tired ,eyes slanted from exhaustion riding home on the last car of a New York #3 train. Struggling to keep my eyes open so that I wouldn’t miss my stop I began to observe my surroundings and my eyes began to wandered I raised my eyes to a sign plastered on the train wall that asked a specific questions ” What to give the city that has everything” Immediately, I thought to myself that’s interesting? and then I began to reflect on my experience of living in the “City doesn’t sleep.” I felt my anger rise in my belly at this question and thought to myself IF I or anyone else give this city another thing and that may be too much. New York City is a melting pot and it does not give a resident, immigrant, visitor, tourist nothing without a price to pay. New York is not really the place to get your start, without giving up everything you acquired some where else. You cannot live peacefully in this city, with new condos being raised up everyday with an defeated economy and household incomes unable to make ends meet, let alone find ways to stop the homeless rate that continues to rise, even the working individual meets the 200% poverty level. Give this city what? I’m appalled give it financial funding and city officials will misuses it and the unfortunate will still suffer with digging in neighborhoods garbage cans, sign and apply for an already denied applications from social services. The injustice that takes place in the streets, racial profiling not only with police officers, but in the workplace and communities. It is an evil that is overlooked for centuries.

wpid-20141022_182236.jpg

This city only takes and never gives. It thrives off the Age of its system “Self” individualism has become the security blanket of this city. Self is the new trend that taken this city by storm… You see everyday with the self-help books and Selfie Pics etc.It has not always been this way but I’m just disappointed of what it has become.  This has been my observation of this great city that I love so much. For every option that has been provided there is a high price to pay to obtain it. Rich and middle class lifestyles will cost your savings and the longevity of an individual’s life in order to maintain it. Trying to make a dream coming true, you got to give it your all and make opportunities happen for you.Because in this city you Got to Know Somebody, Who Knows Somebody to get a door open to the aspiring actress, actor, potential employee of a distinguish firm, rapper, singer must I go on? Ask anyone who is successful with making their dream come true in New York. They all  live with the same testimony you got to be at the right place at the right time….

So I ponder on this question even further and I began to look at the ways that I have managed to survive in the City that has everything and gives nothing for free? As I looked for what or who has kept me from losing my mind after losing stable employment, materialistic things that depreciated in my care. I’m still searching for new ways to comeback to the life what I have recently lost. New York City is filled with all types of nationalities and statistics reports that there is 200 languages represented right here in this congested city. New York City can only offer what is within its parameters of the cultures, trends, and religions that are represented. I got a light bulb moment it was my Faith! that has kept me alive My Faith in Jesus Christ….Jesus who does not seeks to take but gave His life so we can live eternally. Jesus’ love has covered my sin that I may not every suffer  the death that he has so that I can live a life more abundantly.

So I answer the Question ” What to give the city that has everything?” I give you Jesus! the one  that can heal your land, mind, body and soul make you whole and take care of all your burdens if you just try Him, he has not let me down yet and he never will!
