Mark 8:23-25 – Then Jesus placed his hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened. His sight was completely restored and he could see everything clearly.
Can you picture it, Jesus taking you by the hand out of the place, where you were ostracized, rejected, looked over and not fully accepted? Did you ever need God to rescue you out of your darkest moment or maybe there are some things you just don’t see clearly. You said, Jesus I need a miracle right Now!
At the beginning of this narrative, it tells us that some people brought the blind man to Jesus begging for Him to touch and heal the blind man. It is always a blessing to have some people in your life who care enough about you to bring you to Jesus for healing. Many times people will give household remedies, or un-godly advice and sometimes based off of their own experiences. There are some people who knows who to bring you too when you are in trouble and you have exhausted all other resources.
Sometimes there are unseen aspects to healing. In this case, intimacy and time with Jesus is the essential ingredient. We read of Jesus leading the man out of the city holding his hand, picture it in your mind. Something happened, deeper than physical healing. Maybe he was being healed of a spirit of rejection, all his life people probably shunned him, and he was a beggar viewed as rejected and despised by God. Let’s just reflect on the fact that Jesus had to lead him out of the city, because there are just some places that are not conducive for healing. For many, reason such as: unbelief or environments are hostile to healing and in some instances God’s ability to bless was being limited because of man’s ability to receive. Has Jesus ever led you out of some place, comfort zone, city, church, job, or even a relationship that just wasn’t conducive for your healing, just so he can bless you? If not maybe you didn’t sit long enough to finish the work on you. Maybe you just like this blind man and need a second touch.
I realize there are times when God is trying to get our attention He may call your name more than once, just asks Samuel or maybe He will ask you three of the same questions, like he did Peter…. Do you love me more than these? Peter, then feed my sheep! ( John 21:15-17). Blindness to the understanding and thought life and we have to renew our minds daily so that we can change our worldly perspectives to a heavenly one. The eyes are useless when the mind is blind!
If you look closely, Jesus spit on the man’s eyes the first time and asked him can you see anything now? The man’s eyes were not fully opened, could be that he was straining to receive his deliverance, because maybe he is just many of us struggle from the negative self –talk we can’t see ourselves healed. Your healing can be held up, Proverb 6:2-3 encourages us to save ourselves from the entrapment you got caught up in by your own agreement of what you said out of your mouth. Jesus had imparted divine life into this man, as He desires to do for us. Thank God for a second touch! Some healing are instant but in this story the healing was done in stages. Sometimes, God will heal us in stages so he can demonstrate spiritual truths in our lives. Often time, not always spiritual truth is not perceived the first time. The first touch was when he saw people like walking trees.
The 25th verse says his sight was restored…. Hold Up any time you have something restored, that indicated that you had something before. In this case this man had sight before, but earlier in his life he couldn’t see things as clear. I sense the Lord saying, don’t be in a rush with me, “wait I am not done with you.” I gave you a glimpse of your healing, your deliverance, your vision but I need you to spend more time with me so I can touch your eyes a second time, so that you may see clearer than ever before. Daily seek God until you expire for clear directions, instructions for strategies to fulfill his assignments He has entrusted you with to demonstrate his power and His Will on earth.
