Faith that Amaze Jesus!

Matthew 8:13- Then Jesus said to the Roman officer, “Go back home. Because you believed, it has happened.” And the young servant was healed that same hour.

There is an ole family song called “I believe” the words to speak our faith. It says… I Believe, I Believe, I believe in the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost all makes one. I can’t touch Him, and His face I can’t see, but I Believe!

Today, so many people are putting their efforts into learning the latest cults and new age doctrines of these false religions. But there is only one true and living God who has proven himself over and over again. That is Jesus the Christ! The Centurion was a military officer in the Roman army, who had control over a hundred soldiers and they were all hated by the Jews for their oppressive, controlling and ridiculing behavior towards them. wp-1460726429621.jpg

Amazingly, this Roman officer could have let many obstacles stand between him and Jesus. Such as pride, doubt, money, language, distance, time, self-sufficiency, power, race etc. But he didn’t. Nothing was standing in his way of approaching Jesus and requesting Jesus to heal his young soldier, who was paralyzed and in pain.

What is keeping you from Christ?

Jesus was amazed by a gentile, this Roman soldier’s faith, so much so even Jesus recognizes that the Centurion soldier has put to shame the pompous piety of many Jewish religious leaders. Jesus says that many of the religious Jews who should be in the kingdom would be excluded because of their lack of faith.

It is God’s desire to heal! God is willing to heal you!

We must be careful not to become so set in our religious habits that we expect God to work only in specified ways. Don’t limit God by your mind-set wp-1460726412014.jpgand lack of faith. Have the faith that will amaze Jesus! We ought to engage ministry with the expectation and faith that God saves, heals and sets people free today!

The Brokenhearted !

Psalm 34:18– The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

The troubles of life do not discriminate and for that reason we can’t escape them when they invade our lives. Isn’t funny how trouble always comes knocking at your door at the most inopportune time. I mean I was just happy about getting over the last trouble and here you come again. I know I am not by myself! Can I get an Amen Somebody? 51a15a5bcf285a06f94116e3ce1bac6a.jpg

The pain we endure, the grief and loss we suffer, the failure we have to live through, the daily frustrations of everyday life is constantly wearing us down. God promises us hope and he says He will be close to the brokenhearted. I know when I am feeling broken inside, I feel this overwhelming sense of abandonment and isolation, BUT God said he will be with us. There is nothing like being in the presence of God when you are in pain. In His presence there is a source of power that is unexplainable. I know, I know what you are saying, Rev. Sakinah you don’t know what I am going through and God ain’t thinking about me, and if He is thinking about me… what is taking Him soooo long to deliver me out of this mess? Well, can I ask how did it take you to get in your mess? When trouble strikes, don’t take matters into your own hands and then get frustrated with God when things don’t go according to your plan. Instead, admit that you need God and thank Him for being by your side!

Emotional Deposit… Simply Me

Ok I am focused Now… I have been under fire with family, school, life’s demands and I really wished I could just disappear. Have you ever felt like that? I wondered if I just vanished like the rapture how would life go on without me. I’m wondering about the people who depends on me so much and even my enemies will they find someone else to hate? ( chuckling) that doesn’t matter really. Just a random thought…Honestly. I have tried and tried again but my heart won’t let my passion for writing go. I just can’t seem to shake this writing fever. I love blogging, sharing my thoughts, sharing my life and most of all the feedback from my readers… You guys are the Best!  There is such a sense of freedom when the “Simply Me” comes out. I wear so many hats these days boy I tell you I am even confused on which one to put on when issues arise in my life. Should I be the Pastor, friend, sister, mother or just plain ole “ME.”?

So I have decided to be me and would like to re-introduce myself…Hi My name is Sakinah and I am a loving, outgoing, funny, caring, witty, ambitious, think on her feet go getter who wants to live life to its fullest potential. I realize that daily someone loses their life and we often hear the sad stories wpid-img_20140127_090635.jpgabout the person who has gone too soon. So I am here to stay and while I am here I will like for you to share my world. I  invite you into my daily discussions on just about anything that comes to mind food, church, life, leadership  you name it I’ll discuss it….Woo hoo I’m feeling free already. One of life’s biggest challenges is to be authentic, living a false life will have you bound to lies and fabricated fantasy that would be hard to make a reality. Take it from me I heard it all and seen it all, it is just not worth it. Learning how to express your true self will come with a boat load of honesty with first yourself and then with others. Let your flaws be know it will paint a better picture of you as you go through life challenges and struggles you are enduring as you right your wrongs. And remember NO One is Perfect!. We all deserve a second, third, forth, fifth chance at life to change, to be renewed and be regenerated in some areas in our lives so why not go for it?

I know life’s demands are jabbing at you to invoking you to make an emotional and crazy  response. So I say think about how you will respond to life, because it will respond back to you depending on your decision. How will you respond to the hand life deals you today? Life is sometimes a gamble, but you are the MVP of your life team. will you get fearful and fold? or will you try to ignore it? or pull your boot straps up and face your opponent in confidence knowing that life won’t always this way.  Hey, let me share this with you God is calling us ceaselessly through every circumstance of life? Through every attack and every battle and Yet He is measuring every spiritual attack that the enemy is allowed to wield against us. So let me drop this emotional deposit on you… God uses every attack to help you to identify areas of needed growth and healing.

In your quiet time today? ask the Holy Spirit to clarify those areas that needs growth and healing and Journal it.

please feel free to comment and share your thoughts…. Love Always Simply Sakinah….

Post Traumatic Church Disorder “The Experience”

I’ve always wondered why I felt like my head was about to explode with thoughts that were in a cloud of smoke after the church leadership crap I went through over the years. It was only a couple of weeks ago that I read a quote in a book about “church trauma” – and that’s when a light went on and I had an “A Ha” moment. I believe people who experience some kind of church trauma have various experiences, reactions and symptoms.lil-durk-traumatized

I have experienced a severe, negative, almost allergic reaction to inflexible doctrine and outright abuse of spiritual power. Internally my symptoms were exposed to unlimited moments of withdrawal from all things religious, failure to believe in anything, depression, anxiety, anger, grief, loss of identity, despair, moral confusion, and, most notably, the loss of desire and an inability to darken the door of a place of worship. Physically my symptoms were ongoing episodes that varied from time to time with cold sweats, sleep disturbances, heart palpitations and increased blood pressure.

“Church trauma” can be defined as a very deep and tricky wound inflicted on (people) by the very institution of healing, the church, which did not live up to its own calling and which – an almost devilish scheme – has badly hurt those whose (gifts and) ministries it needed most.”- Houses that Change the World, Wolfgang Simson

For many years my church experiences always left a lasting effect as if I was involved in a head on collision with a train wreck of pain and hurt leaving me with spiritual whiplash, broken bones, bruises, welts and lacerations. It has left me feeling alone and scared and suffering. It has left me with a boatload of internal and external symptoms every time I tried to express my feelings about the hurt  to persons of spiritual authority and their response was telling me it’s all in my head and would go away if I just had more faith and fight. It has been difficult to walk into a church.

woman crying

As I envision myself walking into a church I envision myself walking into my own prison and locking door behind me. Maybe that’s not you or maybe you share the same experience and find yourself taking the long way on the highway to avoid the sight of a church building or even standing in the pulpit. But lately I have felt “stuck” and I didn’t know how to move forward and my motivation was gone and I didn’t know how to get it back! It’s like the church stole the “soul” of my life through the pain and mistreatment.

So, I started to do some refection, research and began to blog my journey and findings. I plan to write more about the effects of church trauma (that I am discovering) and also how to experience healing. My prayer is that hopefully one day I WILL be able to help others, no matter what level of church trauma has affected them.

Life as War

Justice- I have read so many comments about the injustice that is taken place here in NY and Ferguson and I have read questions posed about Activists, leaders, Pastors, Politicians, Preachers, etc. within community? Where are they? Well I believe they are where they are with their hands tied with not having a strategy or plan to implement and address the corruption that is so pervasive within the justice system and systems alike. Questions of Why? forces of us to deal with how far we are willing to go to do justice. Some theologians call this area of corruption Institutional Sin and it is bigger than any individual. It is the sin that affects the entire system.

IMG_1554

Doing justice requires us to look at an entire system, not just the problems of an individual or a group. It is important that we understand the sociological reality that is set before us and that is systems change individuals far more than individuals change systems. Proven fact no one people(Communities) is voting putting the right people in office that can bring about change, Instead we allow people to lead us by default and/or we vote with loyalty on our shoulders for political figures who victory story needs dusting off after being in office with same ole tired rally phrase.

Churches can have power and will have power to change sinful systems when it meets the demands to be deeply reserve in the faith that is in Christ. If there is no deep root in the worship of Christ, personal devotions to the calling of Christ and connection to the community of Christ we all fall away with a fight in our hearts and bound hands. People who are not deeply rooted in Christ can never shake any system.

Our children are the enemy’s target and he has no reason to save them, so that they can be the next generation to knock down his Kingdom. We need to teach our children how to fight in the natural and spiritual realms because it is something that is needed in a world full of corruption.

Change is possible and we have history of extraordinary examples who pave the way through the civil rights and countless defeats of injustice across this land. Change can happen when we partner with Christ. I encourage you to Pray that you ask God to reveal to you what area that you can assist in fighting injustice and showing mercy even if it is one area? Do it and make change. Strategy and demonstration is power not talk and highlights on our weaknesses on social networks. These are my thoughts and I am praying for the families who have loss to injustice and ask God to grant them peace as He fights our battles well. Because God does all things well.

I’ve Been Framed !

A framework is often a layered structure indicating what kind of things can or should be build and how they would interrelate. Framework are sets of functions within a system and layers of an operating system that are interrelated. In which all have levels of standardized communication networks that is generally more comprehensive than a protocol and more prescriptive than a structure.

May I invite you on a journey about a movement called Christianity. It is a movement and not just a monumental event. It is a way of life that moves from level to level. For the believer of Christ its framework and basic structure is based on the Word of God.

Just like any recognizable skyscrapers that were ever built, the frame is its supporting factor that is build upon substructures and structures, beams and columns that fit together to form a building.  However, the most hidden part of the edifice is always the substructure, the unseen strength that enables a building to rise at its height.  As a Christian our Framework( God’s Word) brings structure and order to our lives.

In this life we lean towards the visible and the spectacular, we pride ourselves and measure our influence and accomplishments. Sadly, today we have more Christians focusing more on their Superstructures which represents the outward accomplishments of their life and ministry that is built on their level of competence and skills. Warning! superstructures cannot rise to great heights without perils that create dead spaces in the life of the believer rather than a foundation to build on. This is why the focus must always be on the foundation rather than the superstructure.

Our Substructure is the unseen foundation, where our true strength lies.We must have a deep and secure structure in order to lay hold our firm foundation. The christian framework should be build on a life of worship. A wise Christian does not neglect the substructures in their lives.

There are Five Specific Substructures that Christians need to guard in their personal life.

A. Relationships How do you do relationships. It is a time spent with family and kindred spirit friends. Time spent in fellowship with the community of God.

Motivational-picture-about-rebuilding-yourself-from-the-broken-piecesB. Mind How do you think today? Do you have a Christ centered worldview?

C. Money– How do you handle money? I was taught by a bible scholar Pastor Willie Dixon “that money is my friend and just like any other friend you respect it.”

D.Experiences– Have you come to a place of maturity where you can actually glean life lessons from your experiences?

E. Time- How do you do time? On what do you spend your time doing? Time is a precious commodity and should be managed well. Quality time with God is essential for the believer it builds your faith and relationship with the one true source of your strength.

Who we are, what we do when no one sees, forms the substructures of our lives. How we live before God in the fear of Him, held together by our humility, wisdom and perseverance is the only path to take that will allow you to get the full optimum of your life and to experience biblical prosperity. You have to willing to invest and cultivate a life work of excellence with a continued maintenance and practice of spiritual disciplines that guarantees growth of your substructures when they are anchored in God. When you live a life of excellence it makes the devil have to do two things. 1. Flee your premises or 2. Submit to your authority in God. a life of excellence shuts the door to the enemy’s activity in your life.

Let God frame you today.

Looking UP!

When your in a crisis who or what do you turn to for help? What do you value and admire most? To what or to whom are you giving your available time? There is a famous quote “if you haven’t had trouble in your life, just keep on living” Life can hit us hard, so hard we fall to our knees. At the startling beginning of a crisis a problem exist. The problem can be so enormous we become fearful and begin to doubt that is no solution or a way out. Fear can make a person doubt their abilities and become paralyze making it difficult to see the ending of a thing, problem, crisis etc. Fear motivates one to develop a “Just in case”  or “You never know” mentality that leaves a person always looking over their shoulder. While fear is present in most every circumstance of life, it does not have to paralyze you. So I pose the question when you are in a crisis and feeling fearful who do you look too for comfort.

Do you turn to your friends for advice and directions, drugs and sex to help you forget the pain, shopping to feed your depression. It is important to realize that whatever you deem important and instinctively turn to in times of trouble is an idol. There are many modern day idols that appear to offer strength and joy, but those who trust in them soon find out that the idol’s image of strength is a fabricated thought or a facade. In this life there will be many more problems to experience and solve, but who do you look for to provide you authentic joy and peace in the midst of it all is in our Father in Heaven. Quiet time with God can help you refocus your life and give you the balance you need to handle any problem. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding 6) in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight.

image God is the one we seek daily to impart to us comfort, guidance, directions, joy and peace that desires life. Psalms 34: asks the question Who is the man who desires life and loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from Evil ( Life and death is in the power of your tongue). Speak life over your dead situations. Speak the desired outcome of your problem and it shall be granted within God’s Will concerning you. Depart from evil and do good. Sometimes people hurt you in the process or they become your problem. Do good because the Lord will fight your battles…Seek and pursue peace. Through the fear, hurt and pain it is comforting to know that God’s eyes are on the righteous and His ears are open to their cry.

Who we are today is a direct reflection of what has been important to us. If you live a life of worship there will be a distinct resemblance of our Savior Jesus the Christ.
