In the busyness of life, it seems as though we are running out of time. We are wearing many hats, wife, husband, friend, family, church and list goes on and on. I realized that we need a little bit more balance in our lives. We are too busy to discern, pray, pay attention to our lives falling apart right before our eyes and it is only until we hit rock bottom. We ask that famous question ” How did I get here?” and moreover, how do I get out of it Now! Too often we go through life without thinking about what we’re are doing and what does it all means. Time does not stand still for no one and for every item not achieved on your to do and bucket list. It appears everyday we are running out of time. Life is being lived, days, weeks, months and years are passing us by and yet we are not living life, life is living us. Although we may not give up on life, we still express our greatest need is to have more time. If it would be left up to us we would like to control time, so we can savior our moments as we create memories. It’s like requesting God to put time in a bottle on our behalf. What we need today is Balance!
Satan is seeking to devour us and he looking for someone who gives him an opening to do so. One of the most important ways he can destroy us is through an imbalanced life. An unbalanced life over a long period of time we send a longstanding invitation to Satan to walk through the door of our life to bring all kinds of problems, chaos, diseases and sicknesses. In 1peter 5:8 Be well balanced… for that enemy of yours the devil, roams around like a lion roaring, seeking someone to seize upon and devour. We can’t allow the enemy to move in to our lives and make himself at home by placing his ugly furniture of lies and doubt in the four corners of our minds.
God desires that our minds be in perfect peace. I realize that a sense of peace is not predicated by our circumstances but by our state of mind. The more you focus on God, His sovereignty and His love for you, everything that is going on around you matters less and less. Find balance in all you do, keep you mind fixed on Christ , regardless of what is happening all around you and keep the enemy away from your door….Rev. Sakinah O’ Kane~Smith
Justice- I have read so many comments about the injustice that is taken place here in NY and Ferguson and I have read questions posed about Activists, leaders, Pastors, Politicians, Preachers, etc. within community? Where are they? Well I believe they are where they are with their hands tied with not having a strategy or plan to implement and address the corruption that is so pervasive within the justice system and systems alike. Questions of Why? forces of us to deal with how far we are willing to go to do justice. Some theologians call this area of corruption Institutional Sin and it is bigger than any individual. It is the sin that affects the entire system.
Doing justice requires us to look at an entire system, not just the problems of an individual or a group. It is important that we understand the sociological reality that is set before us and that is systems change individuals far more than individuals change systems. Proven fact no one people(Communities) is voting putting the right people in office that can bring about change, Instead we allow people to lead us by default and/or we vote with loyalty on our shoulders for political figures who victory story needs dusting off after being in office with same ole tired rally phrase.
Churches can have power and will have power to change sinful systems when it meets the demands to be deeply reserve in the faith that is in Christ. If there is no deep root in the worship of Christ, personal devotions to the calling of Christ and connection to the community of Christ we all fall away with a fight in our hearts and bound hands. People who are not deeply rooted in Christ can never shake any system.
Our children are the enemy’s target and he has no reason to save them, so that they can be the next generation to knock down his Kingdom. We need to teach our children how to fight in the natural and spiritual realms because it is something that is needed in a world full of corruption.
Change is possible and we have history of extraordinary examples who pave the way through the civil rights and countless defeats of injustice across this land. Change can happen when we partner with Christ. I encourage you to Pray that you ask God to reveal to you what area that you can assist in fighting injustice and showing mercy even if it is one area? Do it and make change. Strategy and demonstration is power not talk and highlights on our weaknesses on social networks. These are my thoughts and I am praying for the families who have loss to injustice and ask God to grant them peace as He fights our battles well. Because God does all things well.
