A Second Touch!

Mark 8:23-25 – Then Jesus placed his hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened. His sight was completely restored and he could see everything clearly.

Can you picture it, Jesus taking you by the hand out of the place, where you were ostracized, rejected, looked over and not fully accepted?  Did you ever need God to rescue you out of your darkest moment or maybe there are some things you just don’t see clearly. You said, Jesus I need a miracle right Now!

At the beginning of this narrative, it tells us that some people brought the blind man to Jesus begging for Him to touch and heal the blind man. It is always a blessing to have some people in your life who care enough about you to bring you to Jesus for healing. Many times people will give household remedies, or un-godly advice and sometimes based off of their own experiences. There are some people who knows who to bring you too when you are in trouble and you have exhausted all other resources. wp-1461605310932.jpg

Sometimes there are unseen aspects to healing. In this case, intimacy and time with Jesus is the essential ingredient. We read of Jesus leading the man out of the city holding his hand, picture it in your mind. Something happened, deeper than physical healing. Maybe he was being healed of a spirit of rejection, all his life people probably shunned him, and he was a beggar viewed as rejected and despised by God.  Let’s just reflect on the fact that Jesus had to lead him out of the city, because there are just some places that are not conducive for healing. For many, reason such as: unbelief or environments are hostile to healing and in some instances God’s ability to bless was being limited because of man’s ability to receive.  Has Jesus ever led you out of some place, comfort zone, city, church, job, or even a relationship that just wasn’t conducive for your healing, just so he can bless you? If not maybe you didn’t sit long enough to finish the work on you. Maybe you just like this blind man and need a second touch.

I realize there are times when God is trying to get our attention He may call your name more than once, just asks Samuel or maybe He will ask you three of the same questions, like he did Peter…. Do you love me more than these? Peter, then feed my sheep! ( John 21:15-17). Blindness to the understanding and thought life and we have to renew our minds daily so that we can change our worldly perspectives to a heavenly one. The eyes are useless when the mind is blind! wp-1461605337924.jpg

If you look closely, Jesus spit on the man’s eyes the first time and asked him can you see anything now? The man’s eyes were not fully opened, could be that he was straining to receive his deliverance, because maybe he is just many of us struggle from the negative self –talk we can’t see ourselves healed. Your healing can be held up, Proverb 6:2-3  encourages us to save ourselves from the entrapment you got caught up in by your own agreement of what you said out of your mouth.  Jesus had imparted divine life into this man, as He desires to do for us. Thank God for a second touch! Some healing are instant but in this story the healing was done in stages. Sometimes, God will heal us in stages so he can demonstrate spiritual truths in our lives. Often time, not always spiritual truth is not perceived the first time. The first touch was when he saw people like walking trees.

The 25th verse says his sight was restored…. Hold Up any time you have something restored, that indicated that you had something before. In this case this man had sight before, but earlier in his life he couldn’t see things as clear. I sense the Lord saying, don’t be in a rush with me, “wait I am not done with you.” I gave you a glimpse of your healing, your deliverance, your vision but I need you to spend more time with me so I can touch your eyes a second time, so that you may see clearer than ever before. Daily seek God until you expire for clear directions, instructions for strategies to fulfill his assignments He has entrusted you with to demonstrate his power and His Will on earth.

One Touch !

Jesus touches nurse

Matthew 8: 14) When Jesus arrived at Peter’s house, Peter’s, mother –in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. 15) But when Jesus touched her hand, the fever left. Then she got up and prepared a meal for him.

Our Lord Jesus used many different “methods” in ministering to the sick. Jesus was not concerned with how the last person got healed, because he is not consumed with methodology. He was simply discerning what His Father in heaven was doing. It is our hearts desire to be in the Will of God at all times.  Many Christians seem to be preoccupied with searching of an anointed “method” or “formula” for healing the sick. There is no such thing, God alone heals and no one can force his hand.  I am reminded of a song by Bishop Paul S Morton and the words to this song is like a simple prayer request, Lord whatever you doing in this season Please! Don’t do it without me.” What a simple request and a moment of realization that we can’t do anything without God. We must solely depend on the Holy Spirit!

Peter’s mother in-law gives us a beautiful example to follow, she had a need and Jesus fulfilled her need with a simple Touch! Oh what joy it is to be touched by the Lord! The fever left her and she got immediately and began to show her gratitude by preparing him a meal.

Has God ever helped you through a dangerous or difficult situation? If you answered Yes, How can we express our gratitude to Him?

In Closing, God has promised us all the rewards of his Kingdom, we should look for ways to serve him and his followers.

A sweet Aroma

Just a couple of days ago I had an argument, but I would prefer to call it “heated fellowship” (Smile) with two family  members and in that instant I said some really hurtful things. I really acted out on my emotions. Have you ever had an emotional battle internally that spill out expressively with words and sometimes behavior we are not so proud of . Well I surely was at that place and when I calmed down I began to get convicted by my actions and realize I ended this heated fellowship in the wrong way. You see my intentions was to let Jesus take the wheel and calmly discuss ways to resolve our issues and make sure that the Christ in me, at the end of the day was left as the lasting memory. Like a lingering fragrance of a sweet aroma. IMG_3582

But instead this was an epic fail! I was so angry my vision was blurry and I started to see these family members like my enemy and didn’t identify the enemy for this conflict from the jump. Thank God for ten minute retreats. Honey my ten minute retreat help save a lot of lives… No I mean that literally. Ten minutes of silence in the presence of God. Wew…that was good and in my reflection I recognize my part in the heated exchange and I have decided to apologize for my actions. God showed me in this matter that I needed to have a different perspective of how I look at people and how I treat them.

Well, in the beginning God created Adam and Eve and through Christ we have become new creatures in this old planet. Consider this: shifting your perspective to see people through the eyes of God and as God’s creation is far more amazing than we seem to believe…We are made a little above the angels…God is so awesome making us Christians ambassadors, priest, kings and oracles to mold and transform this planet called earth until His return. And I know you don’t, because I surely don’t want to have another encounter with anyone else without them smelling my beautiful aroma of Jesus Christ!

So before you break the bank with buying the latest fragrances…You ought to break open your Word bank and get the aroma of  knowledge of Jesus Christ!  Really life would be so much easier…For Real this time….(smile) Rev. Sakinah
